Communal Harmony’ and awareness among homeless people, poor Muslims and Dalits.
CHRSW has been very keen on empowerment of women, specially the homeless woman and Muslim women of conservative and poor families.
Here we would like to share that we have been working on the issues of distress women with the same objectives which are mentioned above for last eight years. We are running two major campaigns, Campaign for homeless people in Jaipur and for Communal Harmony in Rajasthan. Its activities include organising inter-faith dialogue, programmes of Milan on the occasions of Eid, Holi, Diwali and Christmas, communal harmony rallies, kavi sammelans, mushairas, etc. to promote communal harmony and national integration.
We bring to your kind notice that our NGO-Center for Human Rights and Social Welfare. Jaipur has been awarded ‘National Communal Harmony Award-2009’. Award ceremony was performed at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Hon’ble Vice President of India, Mr. Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister of India, Dr.Manmohan Singh and Union Cabinet Minister Mr. P.Chidamberm presented the honour with a citation, certificate and Rs.5 lakh awarded on July 29th 2011.
We have made a survey on Homeless Single women residing on footpath at different places in Jaipur. According to our survey there were 83 single women residing on footpath due to adverse family circumstance (but they are not beggars). We were running a shelter for single homeless women for two years with the help of public support. Currently, we are providing counseling, medical support and food to the women residing on footpath but it is difficult for us to provide a shelter to these women for their security and safety.
The Centre for Human Rights and Social Welfare received the award in the organisation category for the year 2009. The General Secretary of the organisation, Saroj Khan, took the award. The Centre, registered in 1976, is working for communal harmony, human rights and rehabilitation of needy and deprived persons.
